Marketing Objective

Marketing Resume

Marketing, it's all about researching, understanding, and anticipating the needs, wants and desires of people. In the physical world this is easier said than done. As the saying goes 50% of the advertising/marketing budget is wasted but which half? Enter the web, electronic commerce, and all the hype and hoopla. Million dollar budgets, ineffective Super Bowl and other commercials to achieve what?

Increasing sales, revenue, profits, and throughput is best achieved by viewing a business not as a collection of independent process, but as a complete system, in which a change in one area will have ramifications in others. At any given time there is likely to be one and only one constraint in a system, be it biological, physical, or business which prevents it from growing. Identifying successive constraints and elevating them facilitates growth. Strengthening the weakest link in the chain will make the chain stronger and more robust, strengthening any other link will not make a bottom line difference.

While there are many factors which affect the success of an online business or commerce enabled site. A lack of targeted, qualified traffic, is often the constraint preventing sales growth towards profitability. Search engine positioning, which is a blend of keyword analysis, consumer psychology, and technical savvy, is one of the best ways to elevate this constraint. Once proper search engine positioning is in place, the constraint is likely to change. The positions need to be maintained and monitored, but it's time to break out the Theory of Constraints Logic, and determine the next high leverage action.

My objectives are simple:

  • To help businesses increase brand awareness, traffic and sales on the web.
  • To utilize skills and knowledge gained through search engine positioning, and apply them to general marketing and business strategy on the web.
  • To create a seamless searching/purchasing path from the users initial keyword search in an engine till the moment a transaction is completed on a web site.
  • To focus exclusively on search engine marketing, and information architecture not in and of themselves, but as the means to increase revenue, sales, throughput (ala the Theory of Constraints) and ultimately profits.
  • Working in the ski industry would be VERY cool.

Strike a nerve? Sound promising? Wanna take the next step? Are you familiar with the Theory of Constraints? Does this marketing objective line up with what you are looking for? Contact adam@marketingresume.com
